Having trouble posting comments near the pictures so I'm adding them here. The first photo is of Theodoric's mausoleum. Of note is the roof which is made of one piece of stone that weighs 500 tons!! Imagine lifting that in place. The remainder are various mosaics and an overview of the roof and wall mosaics at St Vitale basilica. Check out the leopard skin pants on the three Wise Men - fashionable even in the 5th century AD.
